It Ain’t Weak to Speak
KIllarney Picnic Basket Day is a community run event to raise awareness of mental health issues in mainstream culture. The charity Livin http://livin.org.au/ is the beneficiary of funds that are raised on the day.
Here at the free radicals site we have a great belief that many afflictions of this age are rooted in the primary cause of poor nutrition and compromised lifestyles.
living with mental health issues I have first hand knowledge of, and that by adopting what was for 6 years an all raw diet I was able to move from chronic depression episodes to fully functioning again without the need for medication.
Whereas the raw foods protocol worked for me, and has been shown to be effective in the treatment of illnesses from diabetes to cancer, support and help are needed on a more broader and societally acceptable intervention level.
This is where the organization LIVIN is all about LIVIN your life at the top and destroying the stigma attached to mental illness.
Held at the historic Melrose Downs Station on the outskirts of the town Killarney in the southern Downs area it is a wonderful family friendly venue.
1 in 4 people suffer from a mental illness in their lifetime.
It Ain’t Weak to Speak is the positive slogan that is used by the charity.LIVIN was Co-founded by Sam Webb & Casey Lyons in September 2013, in honour of Casey’s best friend Dwayne Lally and other close friends and family of the co-founders who took their own lives after suffering from a mental illness.
On this day the Redcliffe kite club joined in and supplied the colour and the children’s kite kits that were sold on the day as part of the family festivities.
Unfortunately the wind was not cooperative in showing up to enable the show kites to get up in the air but the children still had a great experience making their kites and getting fun from them. Kite flying is one of the activities that has been a therapy to me over the years.
Be part of a positive change, choose to age with having the option of health and vitality not possessions and material goods as your wealth
